caitierumiAt the beginning of March, I donated an illustration that was auctioned for a cause. It was for Caitie Lucas, who at that time, was undergoing many different tests so doctors can figure out the cause of her sickness. She was only three and a half years old then. I couldn’t even imagine the pain that this little girl has to go through, fighting her then-unknown disease. She was eventually diagnosed with Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia (JMML), a very rare form of leukemia that only one person out of a million acquires it –  and only infants and children are affected by it.

babywearingpostSometime in the midst of my pregnancy, as I was searching for strollers and travel systems, I came across the baby wearing trend. Apparently, it has been around for hundreds of years in different parts of the world, and has been gaining popularity recently.

Beginnings: My Gentle Birth Story

“So this is love
– mmmmmm
So this is love
So this is what makes life divine

I’m all aglow
– mmmmmm
And now I know
The key to all heaven is mine

My heart has wings,
– mmmmmm
And I can fly
I’ll touch every star in the sky

So this is the miracle
that I’ve been dreaming of
– mmmmmm
So this is love.”

My son, A.R.T., born 6th of November 2015

It’s amazing how time flies! My darling little prince is now almost four months old, and the love I felt when he was placed on my tummy still grows each and every day.

S P E C T R A 9 +

spectraThis is the start of my pumping journey!

Before the year 2015 ended, we went to Babymama PH‘s store in Ortigas to purchase a Spectra 9+. It’s already March, yet I’ve only pumped for less than ten times.

I’m a stay-at-home mom so I haven’t had the need to pump regularly. Our little Rafael still doesn’t know how to feed from a bottle, so I just pump for back-up and I.C.E. stock. My lactation consultant, Nanay Nona, does not recommend for me to pump regularly since I have an abundance of supply, and pumping may cause me to have oversupply issues.

This is the first watercolor painting I made for the year 2016. I dedicate this year to learning, and to patience and kindness (with oneself).

My reason for starting this blog is for me to be able to document my progress, and also for me to release some thoughts. Quitting the work that I love very much when I gave birth was not an easy decision to make.  But I realized that these next few years with our little Rafael is too precious, so I then transitioned into being a stay-at-home mother. Nonetheless, rarely being able to go out to have normal social interactions is taking its toll on me, hence, this blog was born.
